You know what this is, you guys? This is my wrist bare of everything but my loyal Up because I took a day off.
“Wait, Margaret, you work? How do you fit in working around all your WordPressing?” You may ask.
Here’s the usual scene: customer wandering my little shop dying for assistance as I tip type away. “Do not disturb my bracelet blogging genius!” Reads the imaginary thought bubble above my head. But oh no! Not today! Today I’ve gone fishin’, in the proverbial sense. In the literal sense I’ve gone sofa sittin’, but that is so much less interesting.
Fortunately my dogs like going fishing, too. Bandit sez “Fish?” with a very hopeful gleam to his eye.

Today my UP gets a moment in the spotlight! It goes with the little turquoise bracelet so I figured, what the heck? It’s paired with my dad’s watch, which it turns out I have to wear to keep the time running. I’m also wearing a little Native American silver and turquoise cuff, and my asymmetrical brass wire cuff from Goodwill.
Dude, I am dragging today. My mom would blame the low barometric pressure and this funky weather we’re having in Sauna Francisco. It’s so warm! Hot even! And with our drought going on, I’m worried. I woke up the other morning smelling smoke, convinced something nearby was on fire. But it was a remanent of a dream. I blame my dragging on staying awake too late last night. And the low barometric pressure, I think my mom is right on that one.
Great news though, I sold a painting yesterday! So I hustled my butt this morning to get it to the shippers before work. Here it is below, it has a highly reflective surface so the glare is huge. Farewell “The Sub”! Hope you enjoy your new home in Minnesota! Better you than me!
My UP broke again! Does this happen to anyone else?? Soo bummed. It’s still under warranty but this’ll be my 3rd replacement. When do I just give UP?
Today’s bangles are vintage rhinestone bracelet given to me by a friend when I was one of her brides maids, my silver mid size Balcon de Guadalquivir, a faux LV, and the Indian bangle you’ve seen before.
Paris, je t’adore! Also, my Jawbone Up. Je t’adore aussi! Usually I hide my Up from the daily photo. I wear it daily, but you don’t need to see that all the time. Today however, I coordinated the colors.
Left to right (or bottom to top depending on your perspective) turquoise Tohu Bohu, random bronze Paris bracelet my dad picked up from somewhere, turquoise dots (I don’t know the official name for this one), and turquoise Jawbone Up.
Okay now for my gushing over the Up. I love it. My honey gave it to me for my birthday in April, which was a very hard time for me for reasons. It tracks your steps and sleep and I quickly became obsessed OBSESSED with my step count. The app offers great motivational prompts ie. last Thursday you took 14,300 steps, try to beat that today by taking 14,800. And I try! I really try to meet all the goals. At one point I was in the top 10% of Upers. I was pretty proud of myself. Then, my Up malfunctioned. I contacted them and they sent me a replacement free of charge. Then it happened again, and they sent it again! Easy peasy. I think I sweat excessively when I work out which gets into the hardware, unfortunately. But this is the only flaw with the UP! Also, since my UP I’ve learned I’m a horrible sleeper. I am awake literally 90-120 minutes throughout the night. I blame PTSD. But I don’t think there’s a fix for this
Oh! One last awesome thing about the UP: earthquake in Napa 3 nights ago woke me (and other UPers) in SF at 3:20 am. UP aggregated the data and blogged about it. You can see the stretch of the quake from the epicenter in the sleep disturbances of UP users here Jawbone Earthquake data pretty cool, n’est-ce pas?
