Honey

Pre-owned Alexander McQueen Skull and Bee Ring

You have maybe noticed that I refer to my honey as “Honey”. I call him “Honey” and he calls me “Honey”. And when I refer to myself to him in the third person I call myself “your honey” as in “Your honey wants you to take the dogs out.” It’s a lot of honey. I also refer to other people’s honeys as their honeys. I don’t know how or where any of this came from. I have no explanation for all this honey business.

But so what I’m wondering today is this: if my honey and I wind up also calling my womb tenants “honey” how are we ever going to know who we are talking about?

Side side side note: I just looked at my post stats page and did you all know we can look at our blog stats going back to 1970!!!!!??! WHAT THE EFF?

Jewelry Stories

nymag jewelry
Besides Twitter my main source of news is NY Mag which I receive in the mail every other week and then proceed to rarely read. So I’m pretty much NOT up on any sort of current event. But this week I actually opened my NY Mag and found this article about women, jewelry, and their life stories. If you have read my blog for any length of time you know I am all about this.

This article started me wondering why do we do this? Why do we attach emotions to objects? Is it sentimentality? Or nostalgia? Or the human urge to tell stories and these objects are our props, like memory triggers? Do you do this with your objects, jewelry or what have you? I know Stories of Objects does, as does Sabiscuit because like me they both actively collect and catalog their objects with stories. But do you? Do we all? Even if you don’t blog about it, do you have your special symbolic somethings with stories? What are they? I’m curious.

Also? Happy Valentine’s day.

Buffy Thoughts 1.21.15

If you’ve been following my blog for more than a month you probably already know two things about me.
1. I love to write about The Walking Dead and 2. I like to list all the times I’ve written about TWD.
BOOM. Here I answered Dora & Cee’s TWD questionnaire
Here I found TWD jewelry for Dora
Here is about the Talking Dead
Here is the lame fan merch sold on AMC
And finally here, the Sex Ed Fail blog that started it all.
But what you all don’t know? Before TWD, there was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And you know what? It’s still just as good as back in college when I eagerly anticipated each Tuesday night’s new episode. I love it. And I’m rewatching it right now.
Grr Argh
Which leads me to my deep Buffy question of the hour.

What’s the Buffy team’s deal with the name William and its derivatives anyways? They’ve got 1. Spike AKA William the Bloody NÉE William Pratt 2. Angel NÉE Liam (Irish for William) 3. Willow AKA Will 4. Willy the Snitch and in the comics there’s 5. Billy the Boy Slayer. Does anybody know? Because that is a lot of Will-ish names for one show.

Today’s bangles: silver bangle from my dad from 1993, silver bangle my dad gave my mom before then, Goodwill glass beads, Oneida spoon cuff, HiHo Silver knot cuff, 2 Swarovski crystal bangles.

Before anybody says anything: Yes “five by five” is a Faithism but my other Buffy needlepoint (beep me if there’s an apocalypse) didn’t turn out well.

12.2.14 life questions

IMG_3151.JPG
It’s raining in SF and I find myself in one of those days of profoundly undeep thoughts that I should probably keep to myself, but hey! This is my blog! And we’re all friends, so here goes some of my general life questions- if you have an answer to any, please let me know.

-I accidentally wore a shirt with a food splotch on the chest, will people realize that I put it on this way? Or will they assume the splotch occurred after I left the house? Can I do this same “trick” with those tights of mine with the pattern I like so much that now have a run in them?
-Somewhat related, isn’t it rather redundant to shower on a rainy day?
-Since I didn’t walk to work, how can I trick my UP into logging enough steps for me to hit my step goal? Or must I run on the treadmill two times today?
-Should I dip this feather bangle in blue enamel?

Insight, anyone?

Today’s bangles- the Angela Cummings bracelet from my dad to my mom that is now mine, my Jawbone UP I’m hoping to trick, feather bangle (better in blue? Yay or nay), my mom’s Route de Corse ID bracelet.
