Today’s bangles: black Clic-Clac, two little Native American cuffs of mine from back in the day, my lucky figa charm bracelet, and the Fontaine de Bartholdi skinny bangle.
You guys? I made a mistake. I did not do Buffy a proper justice in yesterday’s post. I’m regretting my actions! Because I was so busy bragging about my relationship with The Walking Dead I completely neglected my most favorite show even though the post was intended to be all about Buffy. As the Beach Boys say, it wouldn’t be right to leave your best girl home on a Saturday night. Which has something to do with something.
Maybe I’m a little embarrassed as to the extent of my fan-ishness? It encompasses all the comics as well as following Sarah Michelle Gellar on twitter. Who is super funny. I feel like a creeper admitting this. I read Buffy fanfiction. That is officially my deepest darkest secret. DON’T JUDGE ME!
I even have a Buffy fanfiction plot idea which is TOP SECRET but Cee and Dora will be glad to know it’s Spike based.
I suppose there are further depths to fall in the Buffy abyss. I could go to a panel or something. Or tattoo “what the what” across my forehead. Fortunately my life is not quite at that point. Yet. But I am on the BTVS call list at my local comic book store Comix Experience which is in and of itself mortifying.
So today’s Buffy question is circa season 4: When Spike (spoiler) escapes the Initiative, he already has the chip, how is he able to punch the various scientists and soldiers during the escape? Not even two minutes later in the episode he attacks Willow and clutches at his head in pain. What the what.
Gem of Amara available at I love swords
Vampire Slayer necklace available at The Geek Studio on Etsy
Our tap water used to be great. Now it tastes like swimming pool.
Today’s bangles: rhinestones bangle trio, hermès blue les ponts, balcons de guadalquivir, my mom’s Route de Corse ID bracelet, cameo cuff I listed for sale on Chairish.com
You know that first day back from vacation where your to do list is 12 main items long plus many small sub items? That’s where I’m at today. Bet you are too, right? I wrote butter, double underline, on the top of my list because we are so short of everything. Already crossed off are: post office, photo lab drop off, doggies to the vet, and email shrink to confirm today’s appointment. It is 10:43 a.m. I’m less than a quarter of the way thru my list, still no butter
What’s on your list? Tell me so I can feel better about mine… Or feel ‘butter’ about mine. Hahahhahha.
Today’s bracelets: two copper cuffs from Goodwill, silver XO’s by Elsa Peretti.
The rain cloud bursts and business stops. STOPS. In case people have forgotten, today is Hanukkah and there’s only 8 shopping days until Christmas. Why then, when I am in retail, is there a moment of peace and quiet? And yet, it’s kind of nice…
The thing with retail and the holidays, for those who have never worked retail, is that a mania takes hold of your body and possesses you. I feel constantly wired/on during December. Completely manic. I wish I had thought to tally all the “hi there” that I say in a single working day. “Hi there, yes yes,” crazy lady laugh “you finding everything all right?” That’s me. I drink more during the holidays for no reason but to unravel at the end of the work day.
Bet you guys are wondering what’s going on with my uterus, aren’t you??? Oh, you’re not? Well nothing is going on. No hormones or anything right now for which I am super thankful. Can you imagine retail mania + hormone hysteria? What an awful combo. Going forward now I will be starting another round of IVF in January and we have a follow up appointment with the adoption agency. My vote is adoption, my honey’s is IVF. I’ll take whichever way gives us a potato sized human being. Large potato, I guess, or Butternut Squash sized.
Are any of you, my readers, adopted or have adopted a child? Any of you from mixed race families, as in parents are one race and kids are another? Do you have any insight about your experience you’d be comfortable sharing? I’d love to know so many things.
So today’s bangles are: a trio of rhinestone Goodwill bangles, and my Elsa Peretti X from my dad.
It is rainy in SF which means our entire city has ground to a halt. We don’t know how to handle weather! If there is any truer statement about San Francisco, please let me know. I didn’t go to work today because the shop has no power. Correction, I did go to work today, discovered I had no power, and returned home.
Finally, a life tip from me to you. When you buy a salad, turn it upside down to eat so you get the boring stuff out of the way first. You are welcome.
Today’s bracelets are a turquoise Taxco cuff, and a green stone (what is this stone?) and silver bracelet also from Mexico.
It’s raining in SF and I find myself in one of those days of profoundly undeep thoughts that I should probably keep to myself, but hey! This is my blog! And we’re all friends, so here goes some of my general life questions- if you have an answer to any, please let me know.
-I accidentally wore a shirt with a food splotch on the chest, will people realize that I put it on this way? Or will they assume the splotch occurred after I left the house? Can I do this same “trick” with those tights of mine with the pattern I like so much that now have a run in them?
-Somewhat related, isn’t it rather redundant to shower on a rainy day?
-Since I didn’t walk to work, how can I trick my UP into logging enough steps for me to hit my step goal? Or must I run on the treadmill two times today?
-Should I dip this feather bangle in blue enamel?
Today’s bangles- the Angela Cummings bracelet from my dad to my mom that is now mine, my Jawbone UP I’m hoping to trick, feather bangle (better in blue? Yay or nay), my mom’s Route de Corse ID bracelet.
This must be a first for me, more necklaces than bracelets. My mom went on a bit of a tear on Thursday giving me her mom’s old jewelry from Brazil. So I’m wearing some of it today. Stone charm bracelet, matching multi stone necklace. Then there’s my other Brazil goods, too. A Kokopeli charm, a feather to carry me, and a little figa on a necklace with T charm that I found in my dad’s things. Maybe I should smile more in my selfies?
#6 VERY GIFTED: GIFT IDEAS
Gift ideas for:
The San Francisco art world is going through a strange transition right now. The MoMA is temporarily under renovation, many of my favorite galleries have closed their doors. Mostly because rents are exorbitant here. But fortunately one of my all time favorite galleries, who closed their doors over a year ago, is back with a website. And on the Heather Marx website, there is jewelry and a Small Business Saturday promo code 5OA1FZ3. So for that tough as nails, but pretty as a peacock cop in your life let me recommend one of the Heather Marx pieces.
The Love Cuff by Matt Gil for your best gal. Her handcuffs may be on the perp, but yours are on her heart (and her wrist).
For the spy, the puzzler, the code breaker, your lover (ewwwwww) you should consider the Coatt morse code necklace.
There are prefab phrases to choose from, like ‘wild horses’, ‘true blue’, ‘dog my dog’ or (DING DING DING) there is the CUSTOM route. Remember what I said Day 1? CUSTOMIZE, ALWAYS CUSTOMIZE. Coatt too offers a promo code. To get -25% off this weekend use coattholiday.
Now for your honey, the lawyer? First, let me recommend you never get into a fight with her. You won’t ever win. Secondly, lawyer needs some classic pieces! She needs something that says “You know that I am worth that $850 hourly rate, don’t you?” But it must be understated, fancy, and black as her corporate soul.
That’s why there’s Tiffany’s but mind you get her the matching pair, okay? Necklace and earrings. Or she will filet your heart and serve it to her family for Christmas dinner. Oh, and Tiffany’s? They offer no promo codes. You sure you can handle this, bud?
The daily disclaimer: I would be remiss if I didn’t offer the link to my online store… I write these posts for my love of jewelry and gift giving, there’s no sponsors here but ME for MYSELF 😀
Yep, yours truly is working today. But black Friday is usually a bit quiet at my shop. People tend to hit up the big box stores and not our little boutique-y neighborhood. In a minute I will commence the nine Xmas tree decoration kick.
First tho, my bangles. A cuff from Mexico, Claudia’s silver ID bracelet, my mom’s Route de Corse ID bracelet she gave me yesterday, my special little figuinha charm bracelet, and a silver bangle from Taxco. Some of these I will list in my online boutique soon- the Mexican cuff and bangle, as well as Claudia’s ID bracelet. So if you know a Claudia…here’s the link to my shop.
Also today I’m wearing my mom’s charm brooch from Bahia. Nice closeup of my boob, eh? But the charms! A tortuga, elephant, grapes, figa, other I don’t know whats. And the one non silver charm, a skate key?
Happy shopping, you guys.
